Seasons Change – How About Your Fitness Journey?
Whether we are ready for it or not the seasons will change.
Those hot summer days and barefoot nights will transition to milder days and sweatshirt nights maybe by a fire or under a blanket. Even though it can be hard to let summer go we always seem to find a way to embrace the change and make the next season as enjoyable as it can be.
Accepting the change of season is a reminder that maybe it’s time for a change in other areas of our lives. Sometimes the answer is yes and other times it’s no. When it comes to your fitness journey, it really depends on where you are currently at and what your short and long-term goals are.
When reflecting on your journey and considering adjustments, I like to start the conversation on establishing or validating the “Why” in your training program. If someone asks you — “Why” do you go to the gym, practice yoga, ride a bike, or maybe “Why do you spend so much time exercising?”
That’s more than a simple answer. Most often there is a lot behind the “Why” in what we do —what we are passionate about. I encourage you this week to find some time to reflect on your “Why”. And don’t rush it — no one has you on a time clock to answer.
Please share your thoughts with me. I would love the opportunity to learn about your journey, understand your “why”, and provide some coaching for you.
For me, as a 53-year-old husband, father, grandfather who loves being active – my “Why” is “Longevity”. I have maintained a high level of fitness throughout my adult life. Now that I’m in my fifties keeping that momentum going requires consistency, focus and discipline. Gains don’t come as easily as setbacks and regression do in this stage of life.
So, I keep moving forward with strength training, yoga and cycling to achieve the physical benefits of those modalities, maintain overall health and wellness, and have a strong self-image.
Avoiding setbacks and injuries is key — because I want to Keep Ridin’😉
What’s the outlook for your fitness journey this fall, winter and eventually into another year?
Need a coach to help you figure that out? I would love the opportunity to work with you.
