Step 1 - Get Organized

The best advice I can offer you is to get organized around a fitness habit. That can mean organizing your workout space, planning/prepping your meals, laying out your workout clothes the night before. Even though a workout is a small part of your day, be prepared and ready so you can transition into your fitness time and back to the rest of your day with ease.

Three steps to get you started:

  1. Organize your mind

  2. Organize your space

  3. Organize your preparation

Mind

You have a number of priorities in life: family, work, faith, and hobbies.  Making fitness one of those priorities requires you to reserve space in your mind — You Are on a Mission.

  • It’s about a better, stronger you

  • It’s about your success

  • It’s overcoming whatever challenges you are facing with grit, determination and willpower

Find your inspiration and hold on.  If you need help finding your inspiration, let’s talk about it.

Finding some time to reflect when you have some private time helps keep focused on your goal.

Space

Space for your workout starts with where you exercise.  If you go to a gym facility then it will be organized for you.  If you exercise at home, start by planning for where to put your treadmill, Peloton bike, weights, and a clear area to practice yoga.

You’ll want to find space for dumbbells, yoga mats, props, and any racks or barbells. Your exercise space should also include a place for:

  • Towels

  • A mirror

  • Bluetooth speaker

  • Calendar or whiteboard

Here are some important tips:

  • Don’t put anything directly behind a treadmill.

  • Maximize the amount of free space for movement in your gym space by aligning equipment along walls.

  • Use racks where possible to stack weights or dumbbells

You may choose to go beyond organizing your exercise space to organizing space for your workout attire.

Keep Ridin’s Locker

You may also organize a kitchen-like space to prep workout drinks.  Ideal if this is separate from your primary kitchen which is used for meal preparation and cooking. It’s great if you can reserve space where you prep your drinks in advance of your training including:

  • Pre-workout drinks

  • Workout hydration drinks

  • Post workout recovery drinks

  • Protein drinks

Remember the key is to minimize the time it takes you to transition into your workout.

  1. Prep your exercise space for your next workout

  2. Lay out your workout outfit the night before

  3. Have those workout drinks ready

Whether you workout first thing in the morning, mid-day, or after work, the key is to make the transition smooth and quick so you can maximize the time you have for your actual workout.

Stay strong, stay organized, and keep training!
